Design festival
THE 2010 China (Shenzhen) International Design Festival was unveiled in Bao an District yesterday, marking the start of the city s design month.
Business of Design Week (BODW), organized by the Hong Kong Design Center, is the highlight of the festival. During the week, more than 50 commercial and industrial designers will participate in the BODW in Hong Kong to exchange ideas and seek business opportunities, a launch ceremony was told yesterday.
This year s partner country, Japan, will celebrate the unique creativity, fresh approach and innovative ideas of Japanese design at the annual event which features a series of exhibitions and forums.
Illegal bikes
AUTHORITIES overseeing illegal transport had found 17,914 violations and confiscated 244 vehicles including 54 buses, 135 private cars and 35 illegal taxis. Authorities in Longgang, Bao an, Pingshan and Guangming also confiscated 7,154 electric bikes and motorcycles being used as illegal taxis. A total of 156 people were detained for hindering officers in the past three weeks since the start of the campaign.
Flights reopen
CHINA Southern Airlines will reopen routes to Yongzhou in Hunan and Huangshan in Anhui Province starting tomorrow.
Flights between Shenzhen and Yongzhou will operate Mondays and Thursdays departing Shenzhen at 8 a.m. and the return flight will depart Yongzhou at 2:05 p.m. Flights between Shenzhen and Huangshan will operate Thursdays and Sundays from Dec. 9, departing Shenzhen at 8:15 p.m. and returning from Huangshan at 10:40 p.m.

Separately, Shenzhen Airlines will also resume daily flights between Shenzhen and Zhanjiang on Dec. 8 after a three-month suspension. The flight will depart Zhanjiang at 9 a.m. and arrive at Shenzhen at 10:10 a.m. The return flights will leave Shenzhen at 10:15 p.m. and arrive at Zhanjiang at 11:25 p.m.
