A MAN was detained Tuesday for attacking a pregnant employee of the city s human resources and social security administration following a ruling on the man s work-related injuries.

The pregnant woman, identified as Shao, was being treated at the Shenzhen No. 2 People s Hospital in Futian District, the Daily Sunshine reported.

The administration alleged that on Tuesday afternoon, Lu Zhigao, 44, broke into the offices of the social security administration. He allegedly grabbed Shao by the hair and dragged her to the ground, bumping her head several times against a marble table.

Three security guards took him away before police arrived.

Before assaulting Shao, Lu had struck an office director with a pen holder, a witness told the Daily.

The administration said Lu went to the office Tuesday afternoon to inquire about an application for a work-related injury appraisal. Lu claimed he had received several injuries while working as a locksmith at a factory in Bao an District.

The administration had classified his injuries as Grade 8, indicatings Lu had a partial disability. Not satisfied with the result, Lu continued appealing to higher authorities to have his injury classified as Grade 6, indicating he had lost most of his ability to work. But repeated assessments had failed to return the result he was looking for.

The administration claimed Lu had caused trouble several times since 2005, last year sending a death threat to an employee.

An investigation is under way.
