CONSTRUCTION of a government-subsidized housing project in Yitian Village, Futian District, was launched Tuesday.
The 24-floor Yitian Building in the downtown city area would provide 456 homes to professionals retained by the city government after it is completed in August 2013, the city s construction works department said.
Costing about 300 million yuan (US$45 million), the project would cover an area of 13,600 square meters with a total construction area of 76,106 square meters.
The project would also include an underground car park of about 26,000 square meters and 23,000 square meters of shopping areas at ground level and underground.
The government-subsidized housing for professionals provides homes for professionals and skilled workers at low rent or low prices.
More than 30 percent of the housing projects started in 2010 are low-rent or low-priced homes for professionals. (Tina Chen)
