Medical records

MEDICAL institutions Friday started using standard medical record books to be used at all medical institutions in the province so residents did not have to buy new books when seeing doctors in other cities in the province, the city s health authority said.

The standard books could help doctors at different hospitals have better understanding of a patient s medical history. Patients could still use their old medical record books for the first half of next year.

Education reform

SHENZHEN has become one of two cities to pilot reforms in basic education by exploring new teaching methods to help primary school pupils, the city education bureau said Friday.

According to an education reform plan to be announced soon, teachers will not give written homework to primary school pupils from Grade 1 to 3 to help reduce their study burden, the bureau said.

Beihuan accident

ONE person died and another was seriously injured when a car hit a tree on Beihuan Boulevard near the Caitian Flyover on Saturday. Police believe the accident happened at around 2 a.m. but was not seen until 8 a.m. by a pedestrian because it was deep among the trees.

Metro project

CONSTRUCTION of Metro Line 3 was completed Thursday and is expected to be running in time for the Shenzhen Universiade in June.

The 42-kilometer line is elevated from Caopu in Luohu District to Shuanglong in Longgang District with 16 stations and running underground from Yitian in Futian District to Caopu with 14 stations.

Meteor shower

RESIDENTS in Shenzhen may be able to see the Gemini meteor shower from 7:45 p.m. tomorrow. The best time to see is after 10 p.m., the Shenzhen Astronomical Observatory said.
