Meeting application
INVITATIONS will be extended to 10 citizens to sit in on the fifth session of the Standing Committee of the Fifth Shenzhen Municipal People s Congress, from Dec. 22 to 24.
Citizens aged 18 or above can apply to attend the meeting at the complaints office in section A of the Shenzhen Civic Center on Friday.

THE executive office of the Universiade organizing committee has launched a two-month photography competition to promote the Games. Winners will be invited to cover the Games.
In another development in Universiade preparations, Meten International English will provide English training to volunteers and citizens.
Quake-proof check
HIGH-RISE building projects must receive earthquake-resistance evaluation before work starts on construction, according to the housing and construction bureau.
Projects which fail the evaluation will not be allowed to start construction.
Roadworks start
WORK on the road linking Liuxian Boulevard and Liuxian Road 3 in Xili Subdistrict, Nanshan District, was officially started Tuesday.
The work, to cost 47.2 million yuan (US$7.09 million), is designed to relieve traffic pressure on National Highway 107 and shorten the trip between Nanshan and Bao an districts. It is due to open in September next year, the city transport commission said.

BAO AN District will spend 65 billion yuan on roads and infrastructure in the coming five years, according to the district five-year plan to 2015.
