LNG leak
CONSTRUCTION work near the intersection of Danxin and Guangzu roads in Pingshan New Zone pierced a gas main, causing a leak Monday. No casualties were reported and the Guangdong Dapeng LNG Co. had initiated a contingency plan and was assessing the damage, the company said Monday. LNG supplies in Shenzhen and Guangzhou were not affected.
Student reporters
ABOUT 800 students from more than 100 local primary and middle schools will cover the Universiade as reporters when the Games open in August next year. The student reporters were chosen from an earlier selection test, which attracted about 2,500 applicants. The students will visit national universities during the summer vacation next year to promote the games.
Art festival
THE first Wutong Mountain folk art festival will open at the end of the month, said the municipal urban management bureau. The festival was initiated and funded by artists who have studios at the foot of the mountain.

HUANGGANG Checkpoint seized 3,000 pirated watches from an outbound mainland traveler Monday, the checkpoint said yesterday. The department is investigating.
Thief caught
A MAN who allegedly injured a teenager and stole his mobile phone in a city in Gansu Province and fled to Shenzhen was recently arrested in Bao an District. The man has been wanted by Gansu police for months. He was employed as a night club security guard using false identification.
