POLICE are searching for the driver of a truck which hit an electric bike rider and beat him unconscious in Bao an District.
The driver whose identity was not disclosed was employed by Fuhongcang Electronics Co., a Taiwan-funded company.
His truck hit the bike rider, identified as Luo, 55, as it was turning at Meilong Road in Longhua Subdistrict, Bao an District, on Sunday, according to a witness.
Luo was slightly injured. But the driver didn t stop his truck. The witness said another bike rider who saw what happened took Luo on his bike to chase the truck.
At the intersection of Qing-quan Road and Meilong Road, they intercepted the truck. But when Luo tried to open the truck door, the driver hit Luo and kicked him to the ground, according to a nearby shopkeeper, who gave only his family name Liu.
The driver jumped out of the cabin and assaulted the old man. He became nervous and fled after he saw the old man was motionless on the ground, Liu said.
There was a young man sitting in the cabin. He wasn t involved in the attack but looked indifferent, Liu said.
The company refused to comment and had not contacted Luo s family, according to Luo s son-in-law.
