THE founder of a well-known private training company in Shenzhen who was charged with rape provided two supplementary pieces of evidence at his second trial Monday, nearly seven months after he was arrested.
Luo Yun, a company intern, called police May 4, alleging that Song Shanmu, 46, founder and president of Sunmoon Lifelong Education Group, had forced her to have sex with him at his apartment in Luohu and took pictures of her naked.
In the closed-door trial at Luohu District People s Court, Song provided the new evidence required by the court after his first trial Oct. 18.
This included a test result which showed Luo s blood had not been found on a sheet involved in the case. The result was the same as a result of a test conducted by police before the first trial. Luo told the court at the first trial that the sheet had some of her blood when she was forced to have sex with Song, yesterday s Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
Another submission was a record of testimony about when Song s company asked him to return for investigation. This evidence is very important to the question of whether Song gave Luo 3,000 yuan after the sex, Gan Yongming, Song s lawyer, said.
Gan told the newspaper that the two pieces of evidence were very important to the question of whether Luo had sex with Song by force or by consent.
Luo did not appear in court, Gan said.
The court would announce a verdict at a later date.
Luo, 22, claimed she joined Sunmoon in 2009 as an English teacher. She reported to police May 4, accusing Song of raping her May 3 when he asked her to clean his apartment in the evening. Police later searched the woman s apartment and found physical evidence that the two had been in a sexual relationship. (Wang Yuanyuan)
