In the first eight months Shenzhen reported high growth in shoe exports, according to Shenzhen Customs released statistics on September 26, 2010. Shoe exports through the port of Shenzhen rose 43.9% year on year to reach 2.01 billion pairs, value grew 38.5% to US$ 4.52 billion.
The Shenzhen customs said the ASEAN countries are the largest export destination that accounts for 25.4% of total shoe exports in Shenzhen, with an increase of 88.6% to 510 million pairs, huge increase exported countries were Latin Americas, exports to these countries grew 97% to 330 million pairs.
According to Shenzhen Customs’ analysis, the growth speed for August showed slowdown in shoe export. The lower profits and higher production costs have become serious issues for exported companies in the industry, for instance the imported cow leather has gone up 41.6%, nature rubber for shoemaking up 62.3%, but export price for shoes dropped by 4.3%. Further more shoe exports also met various trade restrictions in western countries.
The customs officials encouraged the exporters to pay more attention to expansions of internal market and emerging market, and called for related departments to take necessary steps to help them diversifying the marketing.
