In a bid to grab a bigger pie of the world-wide textile and clothing market, particularly the lucrative Latin American markets, the Indian textile industry is hosting two exhibitions in the region and will witness participation of 22 Indian companies.
The first of these Mega Textile & Clothing Exhibitions will be held in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, between March 25 and 26 and in Sao Paulo, Brazil between March 29 and 30, which is being coordinated by the Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC).
These fairs are being held in order to access these lucrative regions, which have not been focus markets till date. Annual textile and clothing import bill of Brazil touches around Rs 172 billion and that of Argentina Rs 72 billion.
Of these, India’s share in imports by Brazil and Argentina stands at only 12 percent and 6 percent, respectively, which reveals the remarkable scope for growing India’s exports of textiles and clothing to these markets.
