Fashion magazine Vogue held Fashion's Night Out recently, in collaboration with major shopping malls across the world, to promote its recommendations of the nicest accessories and dresses.
The highlight of the promotion by the Chinese edition of the magazine was four eco-friendly bags, designed by top international fashion talents of Chinese ancestry.
All the four cloth bags, from Phillip Lim, Anna Sui, Alexander Wang and Jason Wu, come with a white background but with different prints.
Sui was inspired by the French "Belle Epoche", or "beautiful era", a period dating from the late 19th century until World War I. It was considered the golden age for the upper class in European social history. It was the time haute couture was invented in Paris and exotic furs and feathers dominated the fashion scene. The images of the three women on Sui's bag recall those halcyon days.
Wu, however, uses feathers to create a clean and clear image, while Lim's bag has a girl in slim-cut trousers and lotus-like dresses, both of which are currently in vogue. Wang goes for a sketch of his favorite model Dree Hemingway on his creation.
