Planet Protect, the Organic Sportswear Company, is proud to announce a new series of T-shirts designed specifically for Algalita Marine Research Foundation. The shirts bring to light the serious concern of plastic pollution in our oceans and the need to inform and educate the public about this growing problem. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will raise funds for Algalita so they can continue their mission of research and education.
Algalita Marine Research Foundation executive director Marieta Francis and Planet Protect founder Jim Beriault worked to create strong messaging and visuals for the two T-shirts. The Is There Plastic On Your Plate, shirt focuses specifically on the health concern of fish ingesting plastic and humans consuming this contamination. The second shirt takes on the myth that plastic is harmless waste.
Think Plastic Is Harmless? Think Again - focuses attention on Algalita's discovery and research into the North Pacific Gyre and the millions of tons of swirling plastic debris that is affecting the marine eco-system in dramatic and damaging ways. Both shirts are available for men and women and are made from Organic Cotton.
"One of Planet Protect's main missions is to highlight plastic pollution in our oceans, and the opportunity to work with Algalita to raise funds and awareness is a proud moment for our company," noted Beriault.
Ocean conservationists interested in buying the shirts will be delighted to learn that $3.00 for each shirt sold (shirts are only $15.00 each) goes directly to Algalita Marine Research Foundation - when they buy online. Planet Protect Sportswear can be found on the web at www.PlanetProtect.com and visit Algalita Marine Research Foundation at www.Algalita.org for more information on their mission.
"The goal of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation is to provide accurate, thorough and peer-reviewed research on the impact of plastic debris upon the health of the oceans. In addition, AMRF seeks to disseminate its research and discuss the implications of this research through educational programs, professional and public media. AMRF does not advocate for specific legislation but does discuss solutions to keeping plastics out of the marine environment and its watersheds, including legislative solutions."
