May 30, 2010 - It is reported that the Shandong government has signed letters of responsibility with local authorities, pressing them to shut down poor equipped coal mines with annual capacities of 90,000 tons or less and close coke ovens with chamber sizes below 4.3 meters by 2010 as well as eliminating blast furnaces with sizes below 400 cubic meters and converters and electric furnaces below 30 tons by 2011.
