FRANKFURT, May 25, 2010 - German carbon company SGL Carbon SE (SGL.XE) Tuesday announced a significant increase in graphite electrode prices with immediate effect to reflect a strongly improved demand as well as the need to recover some of the lost margin due to previous raw material cost increases.
MAIN FACTS:
-The new prices will be applicable until further notice for all new orders and shipments through March 31, 2011.
-Regular-size graphite electrodes in Europe: EUR4,200/metric ton
-Extra-size graphite electrodes in Europe: EUR4,500/mt
-Regular-size graphite electrodes in Americas, Asia (excluding China), Near Middle East and Africa: $2,81/pound ($6,200/mt)
-Extra-size graphite electrodes in Americas, Asia (excluding China), Near Middle East and Africa: $3,00/lb ($6,620/mt)
