Magnesite extraction project to come up in J&K and NMDC

Jun 6, 2010 - Conceived two decades ago, Rs 140- crore magnesite extraction project will come up in Jammu and Kashmir with National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) giving its nod for it.
"NMDC has given nod to start magnesite extraction project at Panthal of Udhampur district for mining," Minister for Industries and Commerce, Surjeet Slathia said after reviewing the project at a meeting today.
The project, a joint venture of NMDC and J&K Minerals Limited, was conceptualised 20 years ago.
The objective of the project was to extract magnesite of 100 TPD capacity for manufacture of Dead Burnt Magnesite (DBM).
