As one of the most important textile portal in Zhejiang, also in China, Shaoxing has hailed a record high textiles export against all adversities in 2010. Overall exported turnover in 2010 mounted up to 7.33 billion USD.
The export of textiles accounted for 92.5 percent of the overall export turnover of Shaoxing, surging 31.2 percent from the previous year with growth velocity outpacing the national average four percentage points.
Geographically, Brazil has surpassed the United States becoming the No.1 export market of Shaoxing textiles. For the whole year of 2010, 610 million USD of textiles were exported to Brazil which is 70 percent of increase year-on-year. Since after the financial crisis, exporters of Shaoxing began to exploit Latin America and ASEAN market due to demand wane in EU and USA. Substantial progress has clearly been made.
