MOA to Launch Nationwide Campaign on Specialized Control and Prevention of Pests and Diseases of Crops

This year, MOA will carry out the specialized control and prevention of pests and diseases of crops at a larger scale, covering more extensive region and in a more intensive manner. It is planned to set up 100 demonstration counties, highlight the work in 1000 demonstration areas and support 10,000 demonstration organizations. MOA has decided to work in the next few years to achieve full coverage of major pests and disease control and prevention of key crops in key regions.

On April 8, Ye Zhenqin, Director-General of MOA Department of Crop Farming Administration officially launched the nationwide construction in 2010 of demonstration counties for the specialized control and prevention of pests and disease sin Zhengzhou of Henan Province.

According to Director-General Ye, specialized control and prevention are effective in enhancing the protection of plants, constituting an important measure to ensure agricultural production, product quality and safety, and agricultural bio-safety.

This year, MOA will prioritize the prevention while conducting comprehensive control and prevention, and follow the concept of public and green-crop plant protection , in order to contain, curb and eliminate regional major pests and diseases, and to safeguard agricultural production safety, product quality and safety, and agricultural bio-safety.
