According to the World Organisation for Animal Health, the Chinese veterinary authorities sent follow-up report No. 7 on Friday, 23 April.
The report states that the outbreak occured in a farm in Guizhou. According to the report, there were 47 and 25 cases in cattle and swine respectively. 73 cattle and 41 swine showed signs of susceptibility to the disease.
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), real-time PCR and virus isolation tests were carried out both in cattle and swine at the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute. The tests confirmed the presence of FMD Virus (type O) in the area.
