On May 10, the meeting to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Fishery Administration Commanding Center was held in Beijing. Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture sent congratulatory message. Niu Dun, Vice Minister of Agriculture attended and addressed the meeting.
The Fishery Administration Commanding Center was set up on May 17, 2000, aiming at enhancing coordination of national fishery law enforcement to adapt to major changes of international marine management policies. In the past decade, the Center has achieved great progress in terms of law enforcement, implementing bilateral and multilateral fishery agreements, management of safe production, and resources conservation.
In the Minister s congratulatory message, Han Changfu said that China was a fishery power, with major responsibilities of fishery administration and arduous tasks. The Center should further implement the scientific development concept, improve fishery administration, speed up modern fishery industry, and make greater contribution to safeguarding the interests and rights of our marine territory and fishermen. Vice Minister Niu Dun commended the Center for its achievement in the past decade. He stressed that the Center should make efforts to become the leader of fishery administration system; honor its duties and responsibilities; safeguard fishery ecological security, safe production and quality and safety of aquatic products; and scale up the input in fishery administration.
Chen Mengshan, Chief Economist and Director-General of MOA General Office, representatives from relevant departments of MOA, local fishery administration bureaus and some other 100 fishery staffs attended the meeting.
