HONG KONG, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Eating out too frequently may bring more than satisfaction for your appetite. In Hong Kong, over 80 percent of people were found taking in more fat than necessary, according to a newly released survey.

The survey, conducted by a lifestyle website in Hong Kong, found that about 81 percent of people, out of 3,154 interviewed, ate about 90 ml of fat everyday, much higher than the volume of 50- 65 ml suggested by health experts.

It was estimated that about 90 percent of Hong Kong citizens took in about 70 ml of fat each day.

The survey also found that around 81 percent of respondents have no idea about how much fat they take in everyday; and 40 percent dined outside four to five times a week.

Since food at restaurants was usually greasy, eating out too frequently would easily lead to excessive fat intake, which was bad for health, said Su Yaohua, head of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Hong Kong.

Besides, more than 60 percent of respondents said they took excecise less than once a week, and about 16 percent admitted that they seldom took any exercise.

Lacking enough exercise would cause obesity, which might lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and so on, said Su.

He urged the pubic to practice a healthy diet and keep doing exercise to keep good health.
