BEIJING, Sept 15 - China raised the minimum price for late Indica rice in eight provinces and regions to 97 yuan ($14.39) per 50 kg from 93 yuan, the National Development and Reform Commission said on Wednesday.
The price rise applies to Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi and Sichuan.
It left the minimum price for Japonica rice unchanged at 105 yuan per 50 kg.
China, the world's largest rice producer and consumer, maintains a minimum price to avoid sharp price falls and to support farmers' incomes during times of bumper harvests.
