A CARTOON figure, Pengpeng, has been chosen as the mascot for city social workers to enhance the city s recognition of their services.
The mascot, which symbolizes the caring and creative spirit of social workers, was unveiled by the city s association of social workers Monday, Chinese-language newspapers reported Tuesday.
Social work is new to the city and we want to promote it to the public this way, allowing more people to learn about our work, said Yan Xiaowen, secretary general of the association.
Social workers have a duty to help the needy to discover their potential abilities and seek better development. They have to build up strong and friendly relationship with the needy, so the mascot is a friendly cartoon figure easily recognized by the public, Yan said.
We hope Pengpeng can become Shenzhen residents dear friend. It will be there to give you the best professional service whenever you need help and that s the message we want to deliver to the residents, Yan said.
Meanwhile, the logo for social workers green wings was also unveiled Monday.
The logo is formed by a pair of green S-shaped wings, which represent Shenzhen and Social Workers. It means each social worker has a pair of invisible wings to help others fly higher and happily, while the color green means the young power and creativity of social workers, Yan said.
The logo was selected by online voting. (Wang Yuanyuan)
