MORE than 400 technical and vocational schools have signed up for the Second National English Writing Contest for Technical and Vocational Colleges.
Organized by Shenzhen Polytechnic and the Vocational College English Teaching and Research Committee, a research institute under the Ministry of Education, the competition aims to improve the writing ability of students in vocational schools and enhance exchange between polytechnic colleges in China.
Contestants will focus on practical writing of documents and business letters.
The final 186 contestants will be chosen through preliminary competitions at schools and regional competitions in each province.
Of these, 124 will participate in the finals of the general English group and another 62 students will compete at the final of the professional English group.
The final will be held at Shenzhen Polytechnic on May 21.
More than 200,000 students from 430 vocational schools participated in the contest last year.
