Gambling agents
SEVEN people who acted as agents for overseas gambling Web sites have been jailed for up to two years.
A Hong Kong man surnamed Zheng opened a company in Shenzhen in 2006 and hired seven people to organize online gambling on soccer and horse racing. Between March and May 2010, the ring handled 200 million yuan (US$31 million) from gambling and netted vast profits, the Futian People s Procuratorate said.
Juror selection
DISTRICT courts in Shenzhen would select 143 jurors, the intermediate people s court said.
Applicants must be aged 23 or above with a college education. Applications must be sent to the district courts before May 4. The tenure of a juror is five years.
Mountain rescue
A TRAINING base for mountain rescuers opened in Shenzhen at the conclusion of a national mountain rescue forum Monday.
The forum attracted more than 20 mountain rescue teams from throughout the country.
More footbridges
FOUR footbridges would be built along the 3-km section between Bulong Road and the Vienna Hotel along Meilong Road in Bao an District.
The four footbridges would be completed in June, the city transport commission said Monday.
