A MAN deposited small change at a bank in Futian District for more than two hours to express his dissatisfaction with the bank s service Monday.
According to bank records, the unidentified man deposited the money between 12:34 p.m. and 2:54 p.m. The bank had to provide a teller to serve him during that time, yesterday s Shenzhen Evening News reported.
The man, about 30, went to the bank to open an account. The bank was not identified by the paper. He waited in line for some time and was asked to fill in some information at a computer in the hall when it was finally his turn. He was very angry and said he would get tough on them later, a customer surnamed Deng said.
When he finished his transaction, he deposited the change he had left. He took out a 100 yuan (US$15) note and asked to deposit 5 yuan, so he was given more change. He started to do this repeatedly. In the end, even the bank and the stores next to the bank did not have enough small notes for him, she said.
We really did not know what to do with him. He did not ask about anything when he entered the bank and we were understaffed due to the holiday, said a bank employee.
According to bank policy, customers should provide personal information on the computer before queuing up to save time.
We tried to persuade him to stop [depositing small change] but he did not say anything. I think he was just trying to express his frustration, the staff said.
The bank advised customers to use its customer service line to complain.
