Dense city
THE population density in Shenzhen has reached more than 6,500 people per square kilometer, ranking first among Chinese cities.
The population in the city is now more than 13 million, including 2.59 million with Shenzhen hukou, and 6.42 million having Shenzhen residency cards, at the end of last year, a meeting of Shenzhen Municipal Population and Family Planning Commission said Friday.
Bench death
A MAN was killed by a driver who mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of brake outside a parking lot in Gongming, Guangming New Zone, on Friday.
According to a witness, the driver was preparing to park his car, but suddenly it ran backward and hit a middle-aged man who was napping in a chair on the grass.
The driver Liu called police who are investigating.
Volunteer drill
A TOTAL of 45 volunteers from 10 countries and regions participated in a drill Friday for the 26th Summer Universiade Heads of Delegation s Meeting to be held from Wednesday to Sunday.
The drill was aimed at improving the volunteers standard of service at the meeting which will attract the heads of delegations from more than 50 countries.
