THE city would free up 185 square kilometers of land for urban development between 2011 and 2015 after redevelopment and consolidation, a news conference was told Monday.
The new land supplies are to meet the demands of city s urban development, said the city s land authority at the conference on city development.
A new bureau has been proposed for the administration of redevelopment and consolidation, according to the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Planning, Land and Resources Commission.
Redevelopment at urban villages in Futian, Nanshan, Luohu and Yantian districts was expected to be completed by 2015, said Wang Peng, head of the commission.
Wang also said some old industrial zones would be transformed into 10 industrial parks each occupying at least 20 square kilometers from 2011 to 2015. The new parks would accommodate emerging industries and a modern service industry.
