SHENZHEN will rebuild 18 industrial zones for commercial and residential use, according to an urban renewal plan released Monday by the city land authority.
The areas to be renovated include Chegongmiao Tairan Industrial Zone, Shangbu (North) in Futian District, Hongji Xunda Industrial District in Caopu, Luohu District, and the No. 18 Zone in Shatoujiao, Yantian District.
The Shenzhen Municipal Urban Planning, Land and Resources Commission said these zones were becoming less viable for industrial use because the city economy had developed rapidly and the demand for commercial and residential land was increasing.
Four of the 18 projects would be residential and five both residential and commercial. They would also include public transport facilities, the service industry, hotels and public facilities.
The only renovation for industrial use was the Tiancheng project in Gaofeng Community, Dalang Subdistrict, Bao an.
Each project is required to free up at least 15 percent of land for public use.
Initial plans had been approved, said an unidentified official with the commission. He said the projects would not be started until planning passed another round of examination.
