SHENZHEN will soon grant the housing subsidies to 10,813 professionals in 104 enterprises as the city implements incentives to attract talent.
In addition, 1,100 public rental homes will be provided to employees of 26 enterprises.
Housing authorities had received applications from 104 key enterprises and more than 10,000 employees had qualified by April 8. There were still another 10,000 applications awaiting approval, the housing authority said Wednesday.
The 1,100 low-rent apartments are in 10 housing projects including Honor of the City in OCT, Xinghai Mingcheng in Nanshan District and H&H International club in Futian District.
According to the latest rule on housing for professionals, employees of accredited companies who have no property in the city can apply for housing subsidies or public rental houses.
In another development, Shenzhen attracted 1,847 high-calibre professionals including 214 who had their hukou transferred to Shenzhen by 2010. The city had given out 84 million yuan (US$12.92 million) in housing subsidies to 684 high-end professionals by 2010, the city s human resources and social security bureau said.
In 2010, the city introduced 1,646 returned overseas students, an increase of 23 percent compared with 2009. Among these, post-doctorates accounted for 2 percent, doctorate holders 7 percent and 72 percent were holders of master s degrees.
Shenzhen plans to introduce 50 teams and 1,000 high-level professionals to start business in Shenzhen within five years.
