A TOTAL of 135 junior high school graduates have been enrolled by two top senior high schools Sunday, becoming the first batch of students to enter senior high school through the schools independent enrollment system.
The students, including 100 for Shenzhen Middle School in Luohu District and 35 for Shenzhen Experimental School in Futian District, signed enrollment forms with the schools Sunday.
They will receive official admission letters from the schools later this month after being approved by the city s education bureau, the schools said.
They won t have to take the annual senior high school entrance examination for senior high schools to be held in June.
It was the first time the two senior high schools have piloted the independent enrollment system, aiming at enrolling students with outstanding skills in academic fields, sports and art.
More than 2,600 Junior 3 students across the city had applied to take the written test and interviews of independent enrollment conducted by Shenzhen Middle School, while the Shenzhen Experimental School had selected 105 students to attend the final interview, the schools said.
Students completed both written tests and interviews Saturday.
The schools had invited representatives of the public to supervise the written tests to prevent cheating.
The invited supervisors included officials from the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau and other middle schools, alumni of the two schools, and parent representatives.
We will let these students decide what courses they want to study. We offer regular courses for entering domestic universities and international courses to enter foreign universities, said Wang Zhanbao, principal of Shenzhen Middle School.
