A LUXURY cruise ship is offering coastal tours of Shenzhen.
The Xiaolong, operated by Donghang Cruise Lines Co., was launched three months ago, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday.
The liner took 200 residents for a cruise experience last week, charging each passenger 20 yuan (US$3) for a berth and 1.5 yuan for insurance.
The Xiaolong sailed about two hours out of Shekou, passing Shenzhen Bay Bridge and the Mangrove Reserve.
Wang Ying, who worked in Shenzhen for more than 10 years, told the Daily that it was her first time to tour the city s coastline by ship.
The sightseeing trip on a ship is a rather different experience, said Wang, and I want to take friends on a ship tour.
Two tourists from Finland were also on board the cruise and enjoyed the two-hour tour.
The ship is 41 meters long, 12 meters wide and can accommodate 298 people. It was built in 2010 and is the biggest catamaran cruise ship in China.
The company had been planning to launch the first cruise ship in Shenzhen for years and has invested 80 million yuan, said Wang Yalin, deputy general manager of Donghang Cruise Lines.
The Xiaolong has three tours a day and tickets are 180 yuan per person including a meal.
Besides the experience tour, there was another tour sailing from Shekou westward to the Inner Lingding Island, said Wang. (Tina Chen)
