AN illegal building was demolished in Pingshan New Zone on Wednesday.
The building was built on the foundations of an old building, Southern Metropolis Daily reported Thursday.
The person who reported the illegal building was a woman who had earlier built the house with her older brother.
The woman, identified as Zhu, said the local government paid 900,000 yuan (US$138,075) in compensation for the acquisition of the family s house at the beginning of last year, but her brother gave her only 300,000 yuan, which angered her.
The pair later could not agree on the means to finance the construction of the illegal building.
Zhu said she had reported her brother several times since last May, but nothing had happened.
Zhu s brother, Zhu Liqiang, said he had spent more than 1 million yuan on the illegal building.
