Fake taxis

SHENZHEN transport commission will offer a reward of 10,000 yuan (US$1,516) to people who report fake taxis. It is estimated there were at least 500 fake taxis operating in Shenzhen. They were remodeled or rebuilt from scrapped cars and could be dangerous.

Test run for planes

THE No. 2 runway at the Shenzhen airport would undergo test operations in May and officially open in June, the Shenzhen airport authority said. The 3.8-km runway could accommodate the Airbus A380, the world s largest passenger liner. The new terminal building, T3, would open at the end of next year.

Van collision

ONE person was killed and five others injured in a collision between an armored van and a truck on Jihe Expressway on Monday. The armored van hit the truck laden with sand from behind. A passenger who was thrown out of the truck died of head injuries.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

5 injured

FIVE passengers were injured when a sleeper bus overturned at the viaduct from Jihe Expressway to Meiguan Expressway yesterday.

The bus lost control and hit a guardrail before it overturned, police said.

The driver, who was slightly injured, said he lost control when he tried to avoid a private car that suddenly changed lanes.
