A BUS driver staged a protest over unpaid compensation Tuesday by threatening to light a can of gasoline at a bus terminal in Futian District.
The bus driver, 45, who was identified only as Liu, took a can of gasoline on a bus at the Xiasha terminal, demanding a meeting with the chairman of the Shenzhen Bus Group. He was subdued by Futian police.
Liu was allegedly dissatisfied with a compensation offer for a facial injury which was caused by extensive exposure to the bus air-conditioning, according to colleagues.
However, the bus group denied liability, the paper said.
Liu started working as a driver for the group in March 2006 and was diagnosed with the facial injury last August.
