On June 1st, 2010, a special website for the pandas was launched after the China central government publicly announced which pandas would be sent to Macao. The website http://www.macaupanda.org.mo was created by the Municipalities of Macau with help from the staff of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. At 5:00 pm, Chen Limin, secretary of the Secretariat for Administration and Justice, Gao Shangde, the ministerial assistant from the Economic Ministry of the central government's liaison office, and Tan Weiwen, president of the Board of Control of the Civic Municipal Council symbolically touched the ceremonial crystal ball signifying the launch of the website. Together; this marked the launching of the website. From now on, people all over the world can learn panda information, up-to-date news about the pandas travelling to Macau, and giant panda conservation education work throughout the world via the website.
After the Chinese central government publicly announced a pair of giant pandas would be given to Macau, Municipalities of Macau is arranging for the construction for the panda building, as well as for service and staff development. As the hometown of the giant panda, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding have sent researchers, construction staff and educators to Macau many times to support construction work.
