The 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar last week caused structural damages to several historic pagodas in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
Among the pagodas affected by the quake is the Wat Phra That Chedi Luang, considered the tallest religious Lanna monument in the North and an important structure in the Chiang Saen National Museum. According to a report in TTRWeekly, the six metre high pagoda spire toppled over during the aftershocks and there were structural damages such as cracks and holes on other parts of the Wat.
Other historical pagodas that were affected include Wat Phra That Chom Kitti, Wat Phra That Doi Phu Khao, Wat Pa Sak, and Wat Phumin.
