China Unicom Ltd., the country's second-largest mobile operator, said Saturday its 3G subscribers rose to 33.15 million by the end of October, up 2.92 million from one month earlier.
That marked the third consecutive month that the number of newly-added 3G subscribers has exceeded 2 million, the company said in a statement filed to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The carrier's 2G subscribers climbed to 159 million last month, a rise of 421,000 from September, the statement said.
The operator's Internet users with broadband access increased by 512,000 to 55.05 million. But its fixed-line telephone users continued to fall by 278,000, reaching 94.3 million by the end of last month, the statement said.
