Dongguan has finished 83% of the construction work of its sewage treatment network, and the whole project is expected to be rounded off at the end of this year, Dongguan's environmental protection watchdog released on July 13.
The sewage treatment network, composed of 38 sewage treatment plants and 867 kilometers of sewer collector, starts last year and is designated to cover the whole territory of Dongguan.
According to Dongguan Environmental Protection Bureau, Dongguan has completed the construction of 36 sewage treatment plants and 720 kilometers of the sewer collector, and the whole project is expected to be completed at the end of this year.
Dongguan has invested over 10 billion yuan (1.5 billion US dollars) into sewage treatment in the past few years, and is planning to invest another 10 billion yuan into it in the next few years, the Bureau said.
