Dongguan to recruit 16 volunteers for civil service in Africa

Last Saturday, 199 competitors took an exam for a volunteers program which is designed to select 16 people for a one-year civil service term in the Republic of Seychelles, an island country in the East Africa.

Nine doctors and nurses, two piano teachers, one Mandarin teacher, and four civil engineers will be selected for the service which is set to commence at the end of this month. They will provide volunteer services in health care, music education, Mandarin language training and housing and infrastructure construction.

The program has enjoyed great enthusiasm since it began receiving applications on June 23. The organizers received more than 1700 inquiry calls in only one week, and followingly 199 people successfully submitted applications. The competition for the post of Mandarin Teacher was the most intense 57 teachers from Dongguan's schools put their names forward for the position.
