A company in South China s Guangdong province limits its employees time in the bathroom to no more than 13 minutes a day, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Friday.

The company (Youbang plastic hardware & Electric Appliance Factory in Dongguan city) released the rule in March, stating that toilets would be equipped with watchmen and punch-in clocks to record each staffer s time in the bathroom, said staff members of the company. Every staffer is allowed 400 minutes a month for bathroom breaks and will be charged one yuan for every extra minute.

As people drink more water in the summer and use the toilet more often, it is quite easy to pile up fines and be punished, said the staff members.

Local officials have ordered the company to correct its behavior in 15 workdays and will levy fines if it doesn t meet the deadline, said the report.
