Aug. 11, Mayor Li Wancai met with Song Jiahui, director general of Rescue & Salvage Bureau of Ministry of Transport (MOT) and deputy director of the China Maritime Search and Rescue Center, and his group. The two sides had an in-depth discussion about the construction of a Dalian base for the Rescue Flight Team in the North Sea .
Li Wancai appreciated Rescue & Salvage Bureau of MOT for their consistent contributions to the safeguard of Dalian s economic and social development and the safety of Dalian people s lives and properties. He said: After the 7.16 incident, the salvage system of MOT initiated the emergency plan very quickly. They dispatched various vessels on 145 trips and rescue flights on 26 trips to participate in the sea clean-up. They have made a contribution to the clean-up with their professional skills and effective methods. We expect that Rescue & Salvage Bureau of MOT will support Dalian as usual to improve our rescue capacity in the sea, convoying us for the local economic development.
