On 12th, Oct, district held the opening ceremony of Xuan-nan Culture Festival of Beijing 2010, which marked the beginning of the two-month-long Xuan-nan culture festival.
On 1 July 2010, Beijing Municipal Government published the plan of the merging of original Dongcheng and Chongwen, Xicheng and Xuanwu. Two new capital core districts Dongcheng and Xicheng have been established. New Xicheng District is not only the center of national politics, international finance, famous commercial and tourism, but also the culture center of the combination of tradition and modern. Xuan-nan Area has the history of more than 3,000 years. A rich culture has been developed in this area. Xuan-nan Culture Festival is an important culture event to show the rich culture and the spirit of Xicheng like a stage.
Secretary Wang Ning of Beijing Xicheng District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Governor Zhang Jiandong of Xicheng District People s Government of Beijing municipality, Chairman Wang Minrong of Standing Committee of Xicheng District People s Congress of Beijing Municipality and Chairman Wang Xiangjie of Beijing Xicheng District Committee of the People s Political Consultative Conference attended the opening ceremony and unveiled the festival.
On the opening ceremony, many celebrities and stars were invited to give performance, such like Cheng Long, Wang Yabin, Dai Yuqiang, Richard Clayderman, ect. Amid the performances, fore ceremonies were held, which are the ceremony of China time-honored brand promoting volunteers of Xicheng, the authorization ceremony for the first batch of cultural tourist destinations of Xicheng, the starting ceremony of Liu Li Chang International Painting Art Award and the announcement of the proposals to push culture development of core zone of Xicheng on Beijing s city function.
