Our university was conferred the title of National Advanced Group in the Science of Meteorology

A national conference of meteorological science was held in Beijing on May 18th. Our university was conferred the title of National Advanced Group in Science of Meteorology .

It is a magnificent meeting sponsored by Meteorology Bureau, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Committee of National Defence and Science Workers, China Academy of Sciences and National Science Fund Committee. Hui Liangyu, member of the political Bureau and vice premier, attended the meeting together with leaders of these units, different municipal and provincial leaders, Xinjiang Construction Group leaders and people from related research institutions, universities and enterprises. The number of the people attending the conference amounted to over 400.

The meeting was presided by Qing Dahe, the top leader of Meteorological Bureau, and he gave a report titled Strengthen creation and innovation, laid a solid ground in meteorology .

The conference is held during the time that China is going to carry out the eleventh Five-year Project , Chinese people will undertake distinctive national feature construction, which particularly encourages the field of meteorology.

All together there are 24 units conferred the title of national Advanced Group in Science of Meteorology , besides 40 individuals are awarded national Advanced Worker in Science of Meteorology . The Department of Meteorological Science of our university was awarded the title because of their innovations in research, application of research result, administration and science popularization.

Vice premier Hui and leaders on the stage awarded the certificates of merit and medals. Niu Shengjie, the vice president, received the certificates and medals on behalf of our university.
