On March 24th, the first lecture of 2010 China Maritime Day Culture Forum was held in SMU. The Forum was co-organized by China Maritime Day Activities Office, Chinese Society of Oceanography, Pacific Society of China, Oriental Rostrum and Shanghai Maritime University.

Mr. Zhai Mo, the first Chinese to attempt a solo voyage in wind-powered sail boat, delivered a keynote speech with the theme of the Communication with navigation Exploration and Contemplation for Current Navigators.

Prof. Lu Rude from Dalian Naval Vessel Academy, Expert on ocean-related issues and China Navigation Life Achievement Award Recipient was also invited for exchange and communication with SMU teachers and students.

Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU and Mr. Xiao Baojia, Vice President of SMU met with Mr. Zhai Mo and Prof. Lu Rude. They exchanged views on how to develop navigation culture, strengthen Marine spirits of students and conduct future cooperation.
