On November 8, a delegation led by Prof. Jin Xueshao, President of Korea Maritime Institute visited SMU. Prof. Huang Youfang, SMU Vice President met with the visitors.

The two sides discussed the cooperation issues between Korea Maritime Institute and Shanghai International Shipping Institute. Prof. Huang and President Jin exchanged views on wider and further cooperation between both sides. Therefore, the framework for future cooperation was decided.

Accompanied by Prof. Huang, President Jin visited the Maritime Simulation Center. In the lecture hall of Transport College, Prof. Huang presented letter of appointment to President Jin as SMU guest professor.

Found in 1997, Korea Maritime Institute is a government research institute under the South Korean Premier Room. It steadfastly purposes development and innovation in order to establish national policies in the fields of marine affairs, ports, logistics, shipping and fisheries, thereby contributing to national economic growth.

Graduated from Department of International Trade, graduate College of Dongkuk University, President Jin Xueshao achieved his doctorate degree in Business. He has been engaged in port and logistics research for many years. He used to be the visiting professor of Institute of Logistics in Department of Industrial Engineering, Tsinghua University and a committee member of South Korean Ministry of Land, Transport and Marine Affairs Policy Adjustment Committee.
