Early in the morning on September 18, South Entrance Plaza of HUST was overwhelmed by a solemn atmosphere.

Celebration of the 79th Anniversary of September 18 Incident of 1931 and the 65th Anniversary of China's victory in anti-Japanese war was ceremoniously held at HUST. University leaders Li Peigen, Ouyang Kang, Zhang Jin attended the ceremony, and more than 2,000 freshmen representatives participated in the activity.

At 7:00 a.m., national flag honor guards strode toward the flag tower with a forceful and regular tread. When the solemn national anthem struck up, the five-star red flag rose slowly, and all the teachers, students and military instructors saluted with eyes to the national flag, commemorating the unforgettable history.

Students' representative, the chairman of Student Union Ruan Linhao made a speech. He said, college students today should be aware of the responsibility and obligation in reflecting the history of September 18 Incident; they should bear more responsibility and obligation to struggle for today's hard-won peace.
