General Liang Guanglie, state councilor and defense minister of the People s Republic of China, held talks with Gabriel Oprea, defense minister of Romania, in Beijing on the afternoon of November 11.
Liang Guanglie said that the friendship between China and Romania has a long history. Over the past 61 years since the two countries established the diplomatic relations, the bilateral ties between China and Romania have maintained a sound and steady development all along. In recent years, the relations between the two militaries developed rapidly as evidenced by that the high-level leaders of the two militaries made frequent visits, the mechanism projects of the two militaries went smoothly and the two militaries carried out fruitful exchanges in various professional fields such as joint training, personnel training and military medicine.
The Chinese side is satisfied with the development status of the relations between the two militaries and is willing to work together with the Romanian side to constantly boost the in-depth development of the pragmatic cooperation between the two militaries.
Oprea said that the traditional friendship between Romania and China is solid and the Romanian side is looking forward to continuing to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields including politics, economy and culture, in a bid to constantly push forward the in-depth development of the friendly relationship between the two militaries.
Before the talks, Liang Guanglie held a welcoming ceremony for Oprea and accompanied Oprea to inspect the Guard of Honor of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) three services.
Jia Xiaoning, deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Ministry of National Defense of the People s Republic of China, and Viorel Budura Isticioaia, Romanian ambassador to China, were present at the activities.
