Military Academy of Medical Sciences fulfills 18 diversified military tasks in 2010

The Military Academy of Medical Sciences (MAMS) and the Center for Disease Prevention and Control of the Chinese People s Liberation Army (PLA) held a seminar on summing up the implementation of diversified military tasks on January 19, 2011. A total of 500-plus participants including leaders, experts and scholars from the ministries and commissions under the State Council of the People s Republic of China, the leading organs of the general headquarters/departments of the PLA and relevant local departments attended the seminar.

In 2010, the MAMS of the PLA fulfilled altogether 18 diversified military tasks, covering almost all major international events hosted by China, major disasters and major unexpected public health emergencies both at home and abroad.

As a leading force in the field of nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) rescue in China, the MAMS of the PLA always persists in regarding the maintenance of national security as its duty and comprehensively strengthens the capability construction of its NBC medical rescue group. It has obtained permission to be the medical rescue team at the site of the National NBC Emergency Rescue Base, becoming one of the three state-level counter-terror forces and providing a strong support for the implementation of diversified military medical service tasks.

Therefore, it was praised by Guo Boxiong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, as an irreplaceable national force .
