Military members of CPPCC submit 187 proposals

It is learned that members of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from the Chinese military actively participated in and deliberated state affairs and submitted a total of 187 proposals over the past year, 67of which were adopted by the CPC Central Committee and state organs and departments at all levels.

In the past year, military members of the CPPCC made investigation tours to military barracks, cities and villages, and thereby completed a total of 304 research reports, eliciting pertinent, constructive opinions and suggestions on contemporary issues, such as the formulation and implementation of the "12th Five-Year Plan , strengthening and improving the state s macro-control measures, promoting the development of modern agriculture, accelerating the transformation of economic development mode, and innovating social management mechanism.

With great concerns on people s living, they composed 328 investigation reports reflecting social situations and public opinions on issues including housing security in cities, education of migrant workers offspring, work injury insurance benefits, and endowment insurance and so on.

What is worthy of mention here is that many military members of CPPCC pay great attention to the national defense and army building. In the past year, they conducted surveys on 50-plus key topics, including construction of national security system, military-civilian integrated development and training of high-quality military personnel. Some opinions and suggestions in these reports contributed to the decision-making of the Central Military Commission and the PLA general headquarters/departments.
