National Meeting on Agricultural Industrialization Demonstration Areas Held in Hefei, Anhui

Chen Xiaohua, Vice Minister of Agriculture, stressed that it was necessary to establish agricultural industrialization demonstration areas and thus promote development of clustered leading enterprises at the National Meeting on Agricultural Industrialization Demonstration Areas.

On 24-25 Sept., the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) held the National Meeting on Agricultural Industrialization Demonstration Areas in Hefei, Anhui Province. Chen Xiaohua, Vice Minister of Agriculture, attended and addressed the meeting. He emphasized that it was necessary to steadily push forward the activities on agricultural industrialization demonstration areas and thus promote development of clustered leading enterprises for improved quality and level of agricultural industrialized development.

Chen Xiaohua said that agricultural industrialization had witnessed fast development in recent years, and in particular, it had played an important role in the efforts to cope with the international financial crisis and facilitate steady and fast growth of agriculture and rural economy. Different models of agricultural industrialization had arisen from the local practices, including those driven by specialized parks, large-scale leading enterprises, industries with comparative advantages and wholesale markets. These could serve as useful reference in the endeavor to boost development of agricultural industrialization demonstration areas.

Chen Xiaohuan stressed that establishment of agricultural industrialization demonstration areas was a new task, and therefore it was imperative to correctly comprehend the general approach, objectives and principles, highlight the priorities, and identify the major activities for such a task.

Officials from agricultural industrialization offices of all provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) and relevant departments and bureaus of MOA attended the meeting. Representatives from Anhui Province, Hubei Province, Handan, Hebei Province, Weifang, Shandong Province, Beizhen, Liaojing Province and Pixian, Sichuan Province made presentations to introduce their experience at this meeting. Besides, all the participants visited Hefei Feidong Agricultural Industrialization Demonstration Area and China Agricultural Industrialization Trade Fair 2010, Anhui (Hefei).
